Homeless Count 2017 Results
Homeless Count 2017 Results
Under the leadership of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) and the South Bay Coalition to End Homelessness, the entire region consisting of over 4,000 road miles was canvassed with the help of over 550 volunteers. This is the third time 100% of SPA 8 was covered, providing an exceptionally detailed view of homelessness throughout the South Bay, along with recent trends.
We wish to thank the South Bay municipalities, local law enforcement, Coordinated Entry System outreach teams, City of Los Angeles neighborhood councils, hospitals, faith community, and community volunteers for making the 2017 Count a success. We also want to extend a special thanks to LAHSA for working in partnership with our coalition and making detailed Homeless Count data available for us to use as the basis for the reports on this webpage. |
May 22, 2018 Update:
On May 18, 2018, LAHSA adjusted the overall number of people experiencing homelessness in the Los Angeles Continuum of Care (CoC) downward to 55,048. This difference reflects the figures reported through the Youth Count component only. Because of LAHSA's methodology, this will impact only the SPA 8 Level total and not any of the individual city-level reports shown on this page. May 24, 2018 Update: LAHSA's revised Homeless Count 2017 Dashboard shows that SPA 8 had 4,182 people experiencing homelessness, down from the originally reported 4,282. A detailed data sheet will be available on its website on June 5, 2018. Please note that the SPA-level demographics on our 2017 SPA 8 Overview sheet reflect the orginally reported numbers. For the night of January 25, 2017, 4,282 people were identified as experiencing homelessness in the SPA 8/South Bay.
